Bisley, the UK’s largest supplier of office storage, is delighted to be nominated on the Made by Britain map not once but twice, by its relevant constituent MP’s in Surrey Heath and Newport East. Made by Britain is a project of the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group, designed to address the reputation problems facing the manufacturing sector and celebrate the manufacturing success stories throughout the UK, of which Bisley is a prime example.

Education Secretary and MP for Surrey Heath, Michael Gove, has nominated the classic Bisley multi-drawer and Jessica Morden MP for Newport East has nominated Glide, which firmly puts Bisley products both classic and new on the map – literally!

As Richard Blackwell, UK Sales and Group Marketing Director comments:
“It is vital for the recovery of the British economy that we celebrate and develop our manufacturing capabilities and expertise, returning to a culture where we value what is real and tangible. Bisley is delighted to have been nominated by Jessica Morden the MP for Newport East, as well as Michael Gove the MP for Surrey Heath for the Made By Britain project by the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group, which is a wonderful forum for showcasing the talent of UK manufacturers”

The campaign coincides with Bisley’s own celebration of 50 years of manufacturing excellence, investment and innovation. Bisley has invested more than £60 million since 1989 in the most advanced metalworking machinery andstate-of-the-art painting equipment.

Investment in advanced plant and machinery is matched by the quality of its workforce. Tony Brown, Chief Executive of Bisley explains: “We are as proud of our workforce as we are of our investments. We endeavour to provide secure, well paid employment and believe totally that the future of Bisley can only be guaranteed by the combination of a dedicated workforce and modern technology.”

Bisley’s philosophy is that everybody employed by the company must work towards the common good, to safeguard the wellbeing of all those working for the company, together withtheir families. The success of this approach to business is evident in Bisley’s sustained market share and growth, both in the UK and globally.

The export market is of increasing importance to Bisley and in the last financial year they were responsible for 90% of the total of steel office storage exported from the UK, which translates as 30% of the total office furniture exported (source BCFA). As Richard Blackwell explains “The growth in our export sector is an achievement for Bisley, cementing its reputation as a leading global manufacturer of high quality workplace storage solutions but it is also an achievement for manufacturing in the UK,”
